About Black Coffee
The Story Behind the Site

I had, in the past, toyed with the idea of putting a Blog (web log) on the site, to announce any changes or alterations that were being made. I got a script called Newspro (free, naturally),and set up a site on F2S (cos NP wasnt supposed to work on Tripod) which was free, but also bannerless and offered CGI, MySQL database and stats. After setting up Newspro, I set up phpBB (a free forum script). The blog on the old site was still done in HTML, as the F2S site was for testing the scripts and new design. The bad news now, is that F2S discontinued its free site service as it wanted to make its subscription service better. So I then went on to use UKLinux.net who provided a similar service to F2S, but to upload the files meant dialling up a local rate number.

The site Existed on Uklinux for a while, but it was during April 2002 that I considered buying the domain BLACKCOFFEE.ORG.UK. This was the only variation of BLACKCOFFEE that was available (apart from .BIZ and .INFO) and had been for some time. It was also around this time that I noticed CJB.NET had started increasing the amout of popups on their redirect URL's. I looked around for a good hosting deal, and found F2S offered very good value, so purchased a domain, hosting and email from them. Instead of just moving the site, I redesigned it to give it a less cluttered look, keeping the menus on the left and right sides (similar to how the original layout was.).

Lets face it; links sites are useful, but boring. Blogs, in general, are plain boring. Toward the end of the last site, I tried to spice the blog up with a bit of humour, and this is one thing I intend to keep throughout the site, cos, believe it or not, computers and humour can mix! This site will be constantly improved, including guides to HTML and web design amongst the things to come!
