This site really does look bad in Netscape Navigator! Why are there so many ideosyncracies in that browser??. Ive checked my style sheet with the W3C and fine tuned it to perfection, and still NN doesnt display it. Not only that, but it doesnt display my animated banners properly
, so I'm gonna have to do those again at some point. Grrrrrr.
Anyway, Ive just completed my link exchange javascript which, in all but formatting, does actually work on Netscape!
I'm still updating in HTML as I havent got GreyMatter's blog script looking how I want it to (like this page basically!). Now I've got the site at the new URL,its soon time to submit to some search engines!!!
Heres a little bit of spam I recieved a while back. Ive included my reply with it. It may amuse. By the way, for those of you wondering about the Union Jack at the bottom of the page, its my new web ring; the UK amature webmasters ring. Why not take a look!
Welcome to the new look Black Coffee. Its been a long time in the coming but its here now, and with its own domain as well!
I was fed up with all the popups I was getting from the CJB.net url (as good as it was, though) and the UKLinux servers werent as reliable as they could have been! I feel, that the site can be much better don on a paid for domain, because there are no banners, its more reliable and has better features. I dont however, feel that I'm selling out; the site has always been about free stuff and web design and always will be, and if I can give this info to people for free, then the spirit of the site has not been compromised. After all, I have a fairly well paid job and this site is completely funded by me. It is also an excersise in self improvement for me: I hope to have many self written Javascripts on here by the end of the year and then I hope to learn Perl so I can replace the scripts I use on here.
I still have a lot to add to this site (I'm loathe to say its 'permanently under construction' as some people do, cos that sounds bad lol). I'm working on flashy new javascripts for the directories so you can click on a coffee bean graphic and a popup window will come up with all the details. (the only kind of popup you get on here is a useful one
) In fact the script works, but I have to put the data into it. I also have to convert the blogs from the UKLinux site. All in all, 2002 should be a good year for Black Coffee, so please keep coming back, there will be plenty to see! ![]()
